Initiatives
Health + Housing
Health disparities and economic challenges in affordable housing financing inspired GCHP’s Health + Housing initiative. This initiative is rooted in growing evidence of the profound impact that affordable housing, with accessible healthcare and low-cost community interventions, can have on communities
Key Components of Health + Housing
Concessionary Capital
Investment from healthcare payors to bridge affordable housing financing gaps and create more housing for low-income households in and for economically distressed communities.
Healthcare Access & Culturally Competent Healthcare Services
Partnership with healthcare provider(s) to create on-site and/or easily accessible healthcare services and integrated culturally competent care within a housing community.
Healthy Buildings
The design and construction focuses on the impact the built environment can have on health. Both GCHP Health + Housing pilot projects are the first Fitwel-certified multifamily buildings in Mississippi and Louisiana. Fitwel is a building rating system created by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to guide building design and operations and improve the health of building occupants.
Data Driven
Intentional focus on data from project conceptualization through ongoing operations, both in the creation of health metric goals [health outcome impact for residents, financial impact for healthcare investors, etc.
