Just 30 days shy of initial completion, the Biloxi Housing Authority’s Hope VI development was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in August 2005. In 2006, the Biloxi Housing Authority hired GCHP to serve as project manager for the rehabilitation of the storm-damaged housing and the new construction of rental, home ownership, and senior housing units. GCHP applied its development and financial expertise to assist in the full recovery of the HOPE VI sites, enabling Biloxi Housing Authority to complete 196 affordable rental homes, 39 for-sale homes, and 76 senior housing units post-Katrina.
